Garrett: Obama Budget Sixty-Five Days Past Due & Still Devoid of Any Real Reform
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), a senior Member of the House Budget Committee and Chairman of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government-Sponsored Enterprises, issued the following statement today after President Obama released his 2014 budget:
“We must stop stealing our children and grandchildren’s future. The American people sent us to Washington—Democrats and Republicans alike—to make the tough decisions that will finally put an end to our habitual debt and deficits. Unfortunately, President Obama has again refused to answer the people’s call. President Obama’s budget, now 65 days late, is just more of the same—more spending, more taxes, and more debt.
“Last month, I joined my colleagues in the House to pass a common sense budget, The Path to Prosperity. The Path to Prosperity would take the necessary first steps toward paying off our debts and finally rescuing our country from the depths of financial ruin. I invite President Obama to join the House in its effort to enact real reform that will turn our economy around, encourage new economic opportunities for our people, and put an end to the immoral stealing from our children.”
