Garrett Statement on Obama’s Unconstitutional Recess Appointments
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Scott Garrett (R-NJ), founder and Chairman of the Congressional Constitution Caucus, issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit’s ruling that President Barack Obama violated the Constitution when he made recess appointments in 2012 to fill vacancies on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB):
“The judges got it right. Today’s decision was an important win for the American people, the rule of law, and the Constitution. Given today’s outcome, I look forward to the court also striking down President Obama’s unconstitutional appointment of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) Richard Cordray. I remain committed to undoing the damage these appointments have done to our republic.”
